Underwater Photography Portfolio: Best of the Coral Triangle

I was a water kid when I was growing up.

I spent every summer vacation swimming, canoeing, waterskiing, and fishing. Actually not that much has changed in the past 30+ years with the exception that I now go diving and surfing more than waterskiing.

Oceans, rivers, and coral reefs have always fascinated me. When I was assigned to work at the top marine biology lab in the Philippines from 2004-2006, I saw an opportunity not only to help save our rapidly disappearing coastal environments but also learn how to document the amazing beauty there through underwater photography.

More than ten years later, I’ve a LOT of time underwater, exploring and photographing some of the most beautiful coral reefs and marine environments on the planet.

This photo gallery includes my favorite underwater photos from magazine assignments, commissioned photo shoots, and personal travel taking underwater photos of everything from enormous whale sharks to tiny clown fish. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed experiencing them. Some of the dive destinations featured here include: Raja Ampat, Komodo National Park, Tubbataha Natural Park, Apo Island, Borneo, remote islands in Flores, the Gili Islands, Sumba, Bali, and islands across the Visayas in the Philippines.

Many of the newer shots are from several amazing expeditions I've joined with the Seven Seas liveaboard dive boat - definitely my favorite way to explore the remote parts of the Coral Triangle.

Big thanks to Philippe, John, and the amazing team at Liquid Eye Water Housing Systems for all their help over the years with the housing for my camera—many of the shots taken with natural light were done with gear from their shop.

If you see any shots that catch your eye for a magazine article, print ad, or to hang on your wall, just send me an e-mail and I’ll get back to you right away. I'm also happy to talk to photo editors, DP's, art directors, and other creatives about collaborating on location / destination photo shoots. I’m based most of the year in Bali, Indonesia, but am available to travel internationally. If you’d like to talk about working together to create a collection of one-of-a-kind images to complement your dive destination, travel / lifestyle magazine, or liveaboard boat.
