I’ve always been amazed by stars and the night sky.
One of the reasons I first wanted to get an SLR was to take photos of the night sky that weren’t possible with my simple point and shoot camera. It was a lot more difficult back then, film didn’t have the noise reduction and light sensitivity that today’s full frame digital SLR sensors have.
Over the years I’ve studied more and more about astrophotography and have learned by trial and error how to create some of the magic that appears in the night sky every night.
This gallery includes some of my favorites – from a panoramic shot of the Milky Way on a private island in the Mentawais, to the clearest night sky I’ve ever seen in the middle of the Sulu Sea at Tubbataha, to an insane lightning storm with stars above the Uluwatu temple in Bali.
The photos in this collection can also be ordered as prints.
