Teahupo’o‎ Rhymes with Uluwatu: Bali Surf Photos

Ok, so that title is a bit of a joke, though one commenter on Facebook did ask if these photos were taken at Tahiti's mindblowingly dangerous 'place of skulls' (the local translation of Teahupo'o). Actually these photos were taken in Bali, an ocean away from Tahiti but home to epic waves in its own right. On this afternoon, the rare combination of great light, great waves, great surfers, and a favorable tide all came together to produce a pretty strenuous (but exciting) swim in the Indian Ocean.
