Clown fish in their anemone; Apo Island, Negros Oriental

TourOriental.com website Publication

My site in Dumaguete is located in the province of Negros Oriental on the Island of Negros. Recently, the provincial tourism promotion office approached me to help them out with promoting ecotourism in the region. It is hoped that the development of sustainable ecotourism practices and tourism development here will help take some of the pressure from the already overloaded natural resources here by providing alternative livelihoods for the people who live here. This will be an ongoing project throughout my service here in the Philippines, but in the short term, I have provided photos of some of the highlights of the region that I have visited, and already several of them are in use on the official website for tourism in the province: http://www.touroriental.com

The front page photo on the site is a photo of Apo Island that was taken while I was helping out with a storm damage assessment there in July.

The Diving section of the site features photos of Apo Island that were also taken on the storm damage assessment trip in July.

The Lakes & Waterfalls section of the site includes a photo of Casaroro falls just outside Dumaguete.
