Casaroro Falls - June 2004
This
carved face greets you at the top of the trail down into the
river gorge.
|
|
At
the bottom of the gorge, the path winds through dense jungle
thickets along the river bank.
|
|
To
get to the falls, you have to scramble across the slippery river
rocks.
|
|
The
Casaroro Falls plunge down from a narrow opening 70 feet above
a swirling pool.
|
|
Here
you can see the falls and the river as it flows out of the churning
plunge pool.
|
|
The dramatic falls made
for a mandatory group photo, from left: Kristin
Gilliss, Joe Speicher and Chrissy Speicher.
|
|
I
couldn't resist posing in front of the falls after swimming
in the plunge pool; an experience I imagine to be a lot like
getting flushed down the toilet.

Just because we might be out of
the U.S. doesn't mean we don't celebrate the usual holidays.
A Fourth of July celebration just wouldn't be the same
without baked beans, hot dogs, hamburgers and all the
usual backyard cookout staples. Luckily, Pete Geiger,
a volunteer from my Peace Corps group who is assigned
in the village of Bilar in the province of Bohol put
together an authentic American Fourth of July cookout
for the volunteers in the area. How could I say no?
